Dev stuff

Big moves have been made. The site is practically done. The salesman at Webflow admitted that they do co-operate with law enforcement, even if the site is hosted offshore so I’ve had to export the code and rehost with a provider who would be a little slower to respond to court orders. The end goal being self-hosted but if I did develop a name for myself, I can’t have my mums door kicked down to unplug the server in my room.

For online-based stuff it’s all about raw code, you can’t be using any third-party providers because they’ll flip like a coin if anyone comes for you. So it’s raw, natural code – nothing too special either. Remember JavaScript can screw you in the end, you and the client. That’s the first tip. Second, if you’re looking to host on the clearnet you’ve got to get yourself a provider who will make it close to impossible to take the thing down. Factor in where you’re based, the nationality of the organisation after you and the current trade embargoes and barriers against the country you’re based. Often when the UK issues a trade barrier, the recipient issues the same to the UK. Using a hosting provider in a country that is already on bad terms with the UK Authorities gives you a great headstart to migrate to a new provider when needed. Some countries won’t even reply to court orders, others cave to the pressure and agree but give their client in question a heads up before they start running the exports. The third and final tip, keep your paper trail as strange as you can. Remember they will be at the start and finish line, just make sure your journey to the finish line is a blur or you’re royally fucked.

9/10 computer-based naughty Bois get caught logged in as admin, it’s often the only way authorities can prove you have access to site privileges. It’s a slam the lid kinda job, encrypt your machine and have it trigger a session termination and fresh login when the top is closed. Then it’ll come down to them either breaking you for the password (Depending on the country) or breaking the encryption, which ain’t gonna happen.

The site now has a registration page, login page and welcome page. Passwords are salted and hashed because I’m a fucking pro, also threw in password reset and a logout button. Big day for w33d.co.uk. After my argument with Webflow I’ve moved everything from their servers because they’re shit and Ania can suck one

I’ll write over mlow.co.uk for this stuff and launch w33d.co.uk in the next few days.
