so here's my grip on religion

Everyone thinks in separate ways, perceives information in separate and frankly unique ways. So you take 1,000: beliefs, ways of life, morals and guidances, let them loose on the world and over time, the most relatable gain the largest followings and rise to the top, sieved out from the not so relatable, radical beliefs. Things are going well for a while, everyone seems pretty happy with their religion, the only conflicts being between differing religions. It never helps when both parties technically believe in the same God, that can be a mess.

Over time freedom of thought develops materialising itself as freedom of speech. After some transparency of belief, it all becomes a little too clear that many followers of the same religion, well they don’t feel the same way as their co-members. Sometimes this is trivial bollocks; how much of their income should they donate to their Lord each month but other times, it can come to very raw animalistic views. Unfortunately, it isn’t uncommon for a religion to form the structure of your life. So they have a differing view, not only are they questioning your beliefs but the sole foundation your life is built on. Gets a bit personal.

I feel humanity has brought itself to the apex of belief, the peak of the theoretical mountain. Where now the world is wising up to interplanetary travel, it leaves religious beliefs a little vulnerable to debunking. In 20 years we may have a colony on Mars. But no mention of Mars in the bible? Does that mean it isn’t real? Surely not.  I mean we know it’s real, we can see it. Our glorious God made this thing for us, along with everything else in the universe. I guess they just forgot to tell us about it. If this power has a plan for us all then that’s great, takes the responsibility off me but if I end up on Mars? There’s no bible for Mars; only Earth. So unless he/she republishes a new interstellar edition then I may have to start chalking my life up to the followings of a fictional being, a product of the collective imagination of humanity. Sad really.

I think that’s all it’ll take, a religion is loyal to its planet. Humanity is like a cheating partner. Like Earth was great but we’re hungry for more. Mars is the boy we told Earth not to worry about.
